Hong Kong containership company Seaspan has concluded a contract with one of the leading shipyards. The subject of this agreement is an order for building of two containerships with deadweight of 24,000 twenty equivalent units.

The construction works are expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2023. These vessels will be equipped with scrubbers and are planned to be chartered for a period of 18 years.

Such a fruitful cooperation has led to the creation of new opportunities in building business which can help to advance their competitiveness. Seven new vessels are going to be built within the period of 2021 and 2023.

Seaspan currently owns 127 ships, which equals to over a million TEUs of carrying capacity. Besides, the company has made an order for five more containerships with carrying capacity of more than 12,000 TEUs.
